| Description: |
Ethoxyquin is a product of a
condensation reaction between p-Phenetidine and acetone purified by the
process of fine distillation.
Liquid Ethoxyquin is a chemical
preservative used to prevent oxidation or rancidity of feedstuffs, fats,
vitamins and carotenoids. It contains a minimum of 91+% Ethoxyquin. Liquid
Ethoxyquin should be premixed with a suitable carrier prior to inclusion
in feeds or diluted with a suitable oil diluent prior to spraying on
feedstuffs or finished feeds. |

| Labeling
Requirements: |
Ethoxyquin is classified and
regulated as a food additive - 21 CFR 573.400 for forage crops and 21 CFR
573.380 for feeds. Ethoxyquin should be listed in the
"ingredients" section of feed labeling as "Ethoxyquin (a
preservative)".
Premix labeling should include the
concentration (%); adequate directions for use and the statement:
"The maximum amount of Ethoxyquin in the final ration shall not
exceed 150 parts per million (136 g/ton; 0.015%) from all sources".
The label of any animal feed containing Ethoxyquin shall bear the
statement: "Ethoxyquin, a preservative" or "Ethoxyquin
added to retard the oxidative destruction of carotene, xanthophyllis and
vitamins A and E" (21 CFR 573.380). |
| Storage &
Stability |
Ethoxyquin is an extremely
chemically active antioxidant. Exposure of Ethoxyquin to elevated
temperatures in the presence of air may decrease its antioxidant activity.
Store in a tightly closed container and avoid moisture and temperatures
above 100o F (37.8o C). Before closing container
Ethoxyquin should be purged with nitrogen to remove oxygen from container. |
| Uses: |
As an antioxidant for
stabilizing feed ingredients (gats, oils, forages and animal by-product
meats). |
| Safety: |
WARNING - May cause allergic
skin reaction. May cause irritation to eyes and skin. Avoid contact
with eyes, skin and clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Store away
from articles subject to stain discoloration. FIRST AID: If in eyes,
flush with plenty of water. Call physician if irritation persists. If
on skin, immediately flush with plenty of water while removing
contaminated clothing. Wash skin with soap and water. Wash clothing before
reuse.
In case of SPILL or LEAK, sweep up and
place material in a clean container and dispose in a chemical landfill.
Flush spill area with water. Emptied container retains vapor and product
residue. Observe all labeled safeguards until containers in cleaned,
reconditioned or destroyed. |
| Packaging: |
Product is packaged in 55 gal
steel drums. Also available in bulk tank trucks. |
